Dear Parents and Guardians, Thank You: Thank you to all who were able to volunteer your time so that our teachers could attend Maggie DeVillier’s funeral Mass. Thank you, too, for all of you who could attend the Mass. Your presence was a real tribute to a great and gracious lady. Even if you couldn’t attend, I know your thoughts and prayers were being sent her way. Maggie’s presence will live on here at OLSS because the family has decided that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to OLSS School. She will truly be missed in so many ways. Thank You: For all those who helped with the Casino Night, and those who helped with the Golf Outing, we are most grateful. A lot of preparation and work went into both events. Mass of the Ascension of our Lord: On Thursday, May 17, we will celebrate the 8:15 Mass with a special coordination with the 8th graders and their Kindergarten buddies in charge. Field Day: Field day is this Friday, May 18 at the Navy Recreation Center in Solomons. This is a military installation and we need to provide names of those who will be driving aboard the station. Hopefully you have done this so that you will have as little inconvenience as possible. Remember to bring your driver’s license. The passes for Base access will be in your yellow folder. You need to place these on your dashboard. Basket Bingo: Our Basket Bingo is on this Saturday. Doors open at 5:00 and the games begin at 6:00 p.m. The teachers will work this event, so that YOU can play and enjoy the evening! We hope for a great turnout for this last OLSS fund raiser of the school year. Field Trip: On May 21, Grades K-1-2 will go on a field trip to the Chestnut Land Trust, weather-permitting! Home & School Officers: Thank you for those who nominated new candidates for our Home & School Officers for next year. We are now contacting the nominees for their acceptance. The pool of nominees shows a generous response. Next week you will receive a ballot the candidates listed. We sincerely appreciate the hard work the outgoing officers performed. Each were generous with their time to an extraordinary extent. Volunteer Appreciation Mass & Brunch: Next Wednesday, May 23 is our Volunteer Appreciation Day. Please RSVP so that we have a general idea of how to prepare. Special plans are in the making for you after your brunch! Grades K-1-2-3-and 4 are quite excited! Math-A-Thon Results: In the name of St. Jude Medical Research Hospital, thank you for your generous support of this worthy cause. You have raised $1,633! Prizes for the children will be coming shortly.
