Mission and Catholic Identity
Established in 1933, Our Lady Star of the Sea School is a member of the Archdiocese of Washington and is a fully accredited, private Catholic school for PK-8th grade. Located on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay in Solomons, our school instills a life-long love of learning in a safe, faith-filled environment.
Centered on Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the center of our school community and the Person by whom we measure every aspect of our daily lives, including our physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
Community of Gospel Values
In partnership with the parents and guardians of our students, Our Lady Star of the Sea strives to build a community that reflects Gospel values, not only within our school and parish, but also in the wider world.
Scholastic Excellence
We strive for scholastic excellence by providing an organized and integrated curriculum that recognizes and responds to the unique abilities of each student.
Growth Beyond the Classroom
At Our Lady Star of the Sea, we recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom. Through field trips, extracurricular activities, athletics, and opportunities for service, our students develop their unique gifts and talents while growing spiritually, socially, intellectually, and physically.
Prepared for the Future
We strive to prepare our students to meet the challenges of the future by fostering spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth, equipping them to become responsible and contributing members of society.
Jesus Christ is the center of our school community and the Person by whom we measure our life in its daily, physical, mental, and spiritual activities. It is, therefore, the mission of Our Lady Star of the Sea, in conjunction with the parents and guardians of our children, to build a community which will reflect Gospel values, not only in the smaller school and parish setting, but also in the wider world society. Because we are also an academic institution, we strive for scholastic excellence by providing an organized and integrated curriculum, which responds to the unique ability of each person. It is hoped that by providing a program that encourages spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth, the students will be able to meet the challenges that face them as they strive to become members of a democratic society.
